FAQ
Questions? Read below, you might find your answer here:
How should I choose the best fitting massage for myself?
It is simple! You know best what you like, and what your body needs, so go for it. Read through the description and that will tell you more about the specific technique. If you happy to try out something new, do it. If you have questions, ask me, I will explain. If you don't know what you want/need, do not worry, I will help you to choose. After your description of the issue I will do an introductory assessment and will recommend the best technique for you - depending on your issue, on the symptoms, and your current body state /pain level.
What should I do BEFORE the massage?
Last meal should be eaten 2h before the massage (to be able to digest) and you shouldn’t come hungry either. Drink enough of water on the day of massage (before and after), avoid alcohol or other substances. Please check CONTRAINDICATIONS when NOT to go for a massage (end of this page).
What should I do DURING the massage?
Communication is essential. I will try to find the root of your problem. I will ask you some details about your pain and your health, such as your sleep, digestion, stress, so don't be surprised :), it is part of the treatment. During the massage you will probably have tense or painful areas, but overall the massage should be always pleasant for you.
What should I do AFTER the massage?
Be careful when going down from the massage bed, so you don't get dizzy or slip. Protect the massaged areas with warm enough clothes and stay away from wind & cold. Take it easy for the rest of the day and stay away from heavy activities (gym, big cleanup, gardening etc). Drink plenty of water and herbal tea that helps to regenerate the muscles and avoid alcohol or other substances that toxify your body. Some clients feel energized, others feel tired or sleepy after the massage, so make sure to get enough rest.
Will I be sore after the massage?
It depends on your issue. Usually massage therapy brings release and pain relief. However massaged areas can be sensitive during the first 24h, which is normal. In general, majority of clients reports that the first day after a massage their body feels sensitive or a bit tired, the second day the relief comes. Remeber that massage is a “workout” for muscles, and they have to recover. If for some reason you experience pain for more than 48h, please contact me to discuss. .
How many sessions do I need?
It is up to every person and it is individual, depending on your current issue(s) - is it acute or chronic issue? Is it superficial or deeper issue? How long have you had this issue? Majority of my clients come with musculo-skeletal problem that bothers them. Some clients need 2-3 massages, some clients need more. In general, for a good improvement of the issue I recommend 3 massages within a shorter period (every 2 weeks) and then 1 massage every month for a general body “maintenance”.
Can I buy massage packages?
You have the choice of buying just one massage session, but if you know you will need more, then it is more advantageous for you to get a massge package and save some money.
I have never heard about Tui-na Massage, what is it?
Tui-na is a powerful massage therapy providing an instant pain relief. It's based in the knowledge of energetic pathways in the body (called meridians) and using accupressure points. It aims to achieve a harmonious body Qi flow and to harmonise Yin & Yang balance. When there is an obstacle in the flow of Qi then an issue occurs. Tui-na uses various techniques like different pressure, different force and speed to realign the body, it is very variable and can be a gentle or deeper massage, depening on the client''s issue. The aim of Tui-na is to create harmony in the body.
Tui-na helps:
To significantly remove the tension and pain
To accelerate the healing process
To harmonise Yin & Yang in the body
To regenerate and nourish the body
How is Tui-na different from a the other massages?
Tui-na goes beyond muscles and bones and works with the body on a deeper energetical level. Tui-na therapy can be complemented also by acupressure, cupping, gua-sha, moxibustion or herbal balms - depending on the specific issue.
What to expect at Tui-na Massage?
Tui-na is performed either laying down on a massage bed or sitting up on a chair. You can be fully clothed, and the tharapist will cover you with a big sheet or big towel, giving you more comfort and warmth. For specific areas (eg: neck, shoulder, calf, foot) Tui-na can be applied directly on the skin using herbal balms or natural oils.
What issues can Tui-na Massage treat?
MANY - physical and also emotional issues: Acute and chronic pain // Muscles and joint pain // Stiff neck // Sore back // Sciatica // Frozen shoulder // Tennis elbow // Shortened iliopsoas // Headache and migrains // Poor sleep // Insomnia // / Digestion // Irritable bowel system (IBS) // Painful menstruation // Stress // Emotional disbalance // Chronic fatique
Does Tui-na Massage hurt?
Like other massage therapies, Tui-na is very variable for each client depending on their age, body state and the issue. It can be stronger massage - similar to deep tissue massage, or gentle - similar to relaxing massage. It uses knowledge of acupressure points and uses various pressure techniques - such as pushing, grasping, kneading, rolling and others, using thumb, palm, knuckles or forearam. The therapist will work on your tense areas, will use acupressure points to release the tense areas, so you will feel the pressure, but overall Tui-na doesn't hurt.
